Great stuff Gary, Was this guy a aircrew member or a part of the Ground personnel? Just wondering about the lack of wings on the uniform.

Hi Phil he was the pilot. The family kept his medals and wings. They have them in a very nice display. The other items they couldn't take care of so I'm going to care for them . Gary

I just reread his log and noticed this entry " Mandalay - AA Heavy hit(PH)". That is awesome and now you know how he got the Purple Heart. The other thing is that he flew in the CBI theater of Operation. My Aunt Annie was in the CBI also in the AAF. She was stationed in Karachi India.

The pic's and log book just makes this a fantastic grouping that has found a good home with someone who will really appreciate it for the history and the man it represents

No she passed away in the early 2000. I used to spend one week each year at her house during summer vacation when I was a kid. Loved her Greatly. But since I am the keeper of all that is historical in our family, I was given her uniforms and photo album from her time in the service.
Here is a thread I posted back in 2010 about her.

Phil just read the thread great stuff. I've been looking in his log book and matching them up I believe he flew with the 10th Army Air Corps. He arrived in India in 42 left India in 43 . when he got back into the states he was a trainer . Gary

Just fantastic info. Thanks for sharing that.
I know you do not wish to publish this fine Gent's name but have you look at this site to see if you see his name?
