Vietnam 1st marines bring back

My uncle William Milam was a Marine in Vietnam and served as in the 1st Marine 1st Recon Batt. We opened his duffle bags that have not been opened since 1971. We were surprised to what we found.

He did not know he had a Vietnam Service medal.

More surprises coming.

He found his old baseball glove and a lot of moth eating clothes and uniforms.

Great lot and grouping! It is always nice to have family members who served and their belongings. I can only dream of having my ancestors items. Cherish what you got and never, EVER sell them! Thank your Uncle for his service.

Here is the best part.
My uncle was in Recon, meaning going in behind enemy lines and locating the enemy and calling in air strikes, observing or capturing a north Vietnamese for interagation.
He alway told me a story of taking a radio, South Vietnam flag and a hammock off a dead north Vietnamese Soldier.

He gave me everything. What’s crazy is the north Vietnam Soldier had to take the items from a South Vietnam Soldier or a US Soldier, what irony.
