Having recently bought a rucksac for the Para helmet which was inside, I was very pleased with the grenade, holster, etc which also came with it (see thread Super auction buy!!!). This got me thinking about the other items I had bought and found 'extras' inside when I got home.
The young lady smoking was found inside a 1943 dated book about the bombing in Conventry. It is actually an image done by Vargas and has carefully been cut out of a calender (April 1944 I think).
The Lyons tea bag is actually an old paper sweet (candy) bag, it was found in the pocket of a Great coat.
The two Channel Island posters were found folded inside some WW2 newspapers (sorry for the quality of the picture!).

How lucky have other members got? What have you found in the bottom of packs and in the pockets and liners of jackets and coats which you weren't expecting?

Not really a box, but my dad was given 2 Webley service revolvers found in the pokets of a Great coat handed to age concern. They were still loaded too. Theyre now in the Border reg museum at Carlisle.

I've found empty .38 cases in coats, a 1936 dated tabloid in a tea chest at a rubish tip along with a full set of Careless talk costs lives posters.

we bought a blanket chest from an auction, when we go home we open it and we find old newspapers and shoes. ( the newspapers had nothing interesting and dated only 1998 ). and when we started picking up all the newspapers and shoes, we found a gun holister! with some live ammunation. but no gun :P .
we gave the ammunation to the police and I kept the holster. i will get a pic.
