    Default Imperial Austrian Belt Buckles

I have two Austrian Belt Buckles in my collection, one is steel (#1) and one is brass (#2). They are similar but not the same (check the crest and the crown). I canít find much information on these buckles- a lot on Imperial Germany, but not on Imperial Austrian. Do they look ok to you guys; are they both from the same period?

Since I didn't get any response to this posting, I took them to a local show, and a guy said that they look OK, and that they are both WW1 and that that the brass one is an officer belt buckle, dose that sound right?

    Hello there,
Unfortunately, many well-made copies/fakes of these buckles are on the market, including the ones with removable eagles. Your brass buckle looks to be original, but the steel one is probably a copy. Original steel buckles had green paint on them.
    Regards.
