    This week sees 7 days of celebrations in York to commemorate the French airmen who flew Halifax bombers from RAF Elvington during WW2.
    Between June 1944 and October 1945 the Free French bomber squadrons flew 2,800 sorties. 41 aircraft were lost and 216 airman killed!

    All this week French veterens will be visiting York and on Thursday there is a flypast by the Lancaster bomber and French Rafale jets!

    Wow, PERFECT timing! I'm off to York tomorrow morning and I'm staying until friday... I'm going to visit a friend, but now he'll think I have an ulterior motive for the stay! haha

    I love York, one of my favourite places in this country so it's always nice to visit. It should be even better this time, if I can get involved in any of the events. I'll try and make it to the minster for the fly-past, armed with my camera! Thanks for sharing this Nick.
