Heres a couple of WW2 AM 23/230 Pilots Whistles in my collection .
One has nearly all the chrome , the other worn / cleaned up after deterioration to finish.
The worn one I imported from the UK , The really nice one I picked up at Frankston Markets in about 1989 for $5
    Go figure , lol.

Very nice, these command silly prices now (in my view given how many appear to be available)

Not wrong mate . Im astounded by the prices people ask for common low brow items thesedays .
They still are a nice piece but not worth that much really.

Indeed on both counts, very nice and silly prices to buy one these days.

Just thought I would point out that they are aircrew whistles, worn on a hook under the collar of Battledress left hand side. I have never seen images at all of them being worn by single engined/single crew machines, I have seen photos of the crew of Mosquitos and other two man crew aircraft with them showing, and of course multi crewed bombers.
Three types available, the early issued white bakelite J. Hudson type, that did not freeze to the lips when used in inclement weather. The old British Police type also by J. Hudson of Birmingham, and the most familiar one based on the snail type 'ACME Thunderer'.
