He was with the 575th Supply Company as a Mechanic Heavy Duty based out of Cam Rahn Bay. He went TDY up to Phu Bai all the time to work on the USMC forklifts. He was there working when Tet launched. What's funny is he was with a Arty unit in Alaska and hated it so he 10-49'd to Vietnam and was supposed to go to a arty unit in Qui Nhon but the intake Sgt knew him from southern California when they raced and knew my dad was a good wrench so he poached him for his unit.

    Hi Terry,

Thanks for sharing your stories, I've met a lot of Vietnam Vets as they have stopped with us in France when on holiday with their families, I have a Nam era steel pot with camo cover, all the Vets who have stayed with us have signed the helmet cover with their names, unit, and dates in country, I have around 25 signatures now!

Last year I bought a 71 dated APH-4 Helmet from US eBay, it was just over $100 which I thought was fairly cheap.

    Thanks again for the stories!
