It may be a piece of "Sweetheart" jewelry locally produced for soldiers wanting souvenirs to send home. Nice item.

    Hello to all,
this object is prior to WW2, it is a commemorative pin from Italian conquest of Addis Abeba, capital of Ethiopia, which took place on May 5, 1936, at the end of the Italian East African Campaign of 1935-1936, in which the Italy took possession of most of the territories of the Africa's Horn, thus was born the A.O.I.(Italian Oriental Africa).
This item is one of many commemorative gadgets (buttons, pins, rings, etc ..), produced and distributed to commemorate that event.
This is the link to a copy of an Italian newspaper of that time with the date of that day that reports the announcement of this fact:

    Hi Roberto
Thank you for your very elaborate id, generally I only collect German stuff, but it was put up for sale in a Danish military forum, and I actually like it a lot, so I bought it, and now it is mine :-)
    Regards
    John
