I acquired this dagger in Budapest, Hungary about 8 years ago, but never bothered to fully identify it and its specific purpose. I'm hoping someone here can help, since a search of the Internet has come up empty.

The wording on the blade is Gyarmathy Geza Festornek 1941. It has the Meszaros Lajos Budapest stamp, with the number "8" stamped on both the blade and the underside of the guard. Other than that, I can find no discernible marks.

ANYTHING anyone can help to point me in the right direction would be most appreciated.
