Italian army cap badge? but which unit?

hello, I have what I believe to be an Italian cap badge but can anyone tell me which unit it represents and whether it is WW2 or earlier.

I would think it's pre-WWII, I don't believe Crowns were used on WWII Italian insignia.

Identified as a WWII Air Force (Regia Aeronautica) Cap Badge on emdals site. Nice Badge

ah, thats the one Al - only someone forgot to put the blue paint on mine! Interesting though bearing in mind Chris's comments above about the crown.

Al put me on the right track and a quick check of the net showed that the Regia Aeronautica badges, depending on which trade etc, had both crowns and the usual bundle of sticks. Thanks guys, mystery solved.
