Great looking mannequin Frei, looks like he is ready to ambush the enemy. That jacket is very interesting, and the replaced sleeveshield is not important at all. You have only restored what once were removed.

A beautiful jacket in great condition.!

Thanks, I changed the mannequin a little so it looks like he is hiding behind a bush or wall.
Here the breadbag. It is a converted dutch booty breadbag. Stamped CM1917 (Centraal magazijn 1917). Both corners (bottom) have some fieldrepairs.

This time a seldom seen jacket.
A prisoner of war, taken prisoner somewhere in 1943/1944 and shipped to a prisoncamp in america or england. Later of course handed over to the soviets and .......

Very interesting historical object. Have not seen reissued jacket with "PW" on the back before.

And yes, the owner most likely ended up in an umarked massgrave somewhere behind the ironcurtain. If "lucky" only in a hellish Gulag for a long long time.

Yeh, if lucky he was send to a Gulag for many years. But what is luck ??
Working to dead in a Gulag (with a very minor change to survive) or shot right away by the soviets after been handed over by the americans or british.
We will never know what happens to the former owner of this jacket.
When I look to the repairments on the jacket I think that he was for a longer time in a prisoner of war camp. Probaly taken prisoner after D-day.
Here some more pictures of this rare jacket.

Have you seen any ghost on the arm after the volunteer shield? And do you see remains after the heer eagle/other insignia on the inside of the jacket?

You can see the differants in wool where once was the breasteagle (hoheitsabzeichen).
About the sleeve shield, it is hard to see, I believe there was one but I am not 100% sure if I am right. The wool is a little differant where the shield must have been so I think there was one.
