Yes that is a mix of third line supply of equipment. Poor soldiers, not even quality equipment avaliable for them. If you look at the officers coat, you can even see how he or someone less skilled has repaired the sleeve/shoulder seem.

Your right, I didn't noticed that.
I am still not sure about the cap badges. Are they german or the typical georgien as on the picture below?

It seems to me they have the standard WH cloth cockades on their caps, i can be mistaken of cource.

I haven't seen someone bring this up, but I'm very very curious. What was the significance of the stripes on the German-issued Cossack Mantels? They resemble an upside down "V" and meet the cuff. What did that symbolize? I've seen them on various photos.

I believe you are refeering to the insignia of the lifeguard of Von Pannwitz. If i remember correctly, i believe you can find this info in the book "pannwitz cossacks".

Please do correct me if i am wrong now.

Here a recently bought picture.
Russian volunteers with luftwaffe uniforms, altough almost all jackets are differant.
They are armed with mosin nagant rifles and one german ammo pouches as often seen on other pictures. Cause there are no armshields, collar patches etc. I think that the picture must be taken around 1942.

Cossack hat, wool on top is ''Polizei'' green.
Very small size. Probaly handmade.

Interesting piece. Do you know anything about it? Where does it comes from?
Since you mention it is very small since, it could have been for a woman, maybe a nurse. Or the son of a cossack.
Has it ever had an eagle attached? Are there any holes after the eagles pins?

It is in my collection for many years, don't know where it came from.
Is like it is, never removed the emblem. It are two seperate pieces.
Could be from a young cossack, the headsize is that of a child. Of course people where not as big as they are today but you can be right that it is made for a ''young cossack''.
