Hello guys,

I have some questions about WW2 Japanese officer's shin gunto.
Is there any great discrepancy between one officer's sword to the other's?
I'm referring to the colour and material of the inner handle wrap (samegawa), outer handle wrap (ito), scabbard, ornaments, etc.
Was it common for high-ranking officers to exercise more freedom in using unusual or non-standard swords?

The reason is that I wanna obtain one but the sword looks a lil bit fancy, with yellow inner handle wrap (samegawa) made of cloth (wool or cotton I'm not sure), and black outer handle wrap (ito) made of leather. Unfortunately, however, I currently do not have the privilege to show you the pic.

I wish someone on this forum could shed some light concerning this issue. Pics of unusual or non-standard WW2 officer's shin gunto would be very appreciated.

Thank you in advance!
