    hello here is a few photos of the resaults of metal detecting in my area. an old military training camp from
    the great war.lots of buttons and bullets .

    very nice finds ! If I can say, maybe the cleaning was too invasive though...

    I am familiar with these finds, because I also like go digging where BETFOR had training camps over here. You can find buttons, badges, spent cases like you posted, etc.

    i agree with you about the cleaning,the bullets are ok to clean
    but its a shame to touch the badges and buttons,i wont be doing it again.i used an electric steel wire brush wheel

    I would suggest you a mild cleaning with warm mater and an old toothbrush for the brass badges. That would be ok. If there are some corroded parts, you may try to use those mini drills (Dremmel) with brass brush. Another good way to clean it in detail is to use porcupine needles (I hope you understand what I mean...don't know the exact english word) : they're strong and stiff enough to rub away small bits of corrosion, but won't ruin the badge surface.

    hello the toothbrush warm water and washing up liquid
    is what i usuly do. but this time i wanted to try the wire brush not a good sulution at all for badges.
