Question Hi and what have I found??!

Hiu everyone, this forum looks awesome, I've just spent the last couple of hours reading and looking at threads. Its great!!

Last year, whilst walking near to Stonne in the Champagne Ardennes region of France I found a couple of bits that I have no idea what they are... One was found next to some aluminium debris (probably from a crashed aircraft) and the other very nearby. I would be very interested to know what they are so I'm hoping somebody has a better idea than me on here.

    Please see the attached images!

The bic biro pen is there for size reference by the way

Thanks in advance and I look forward to reading about your adventures too!

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

The small item next to the pen is a "stripper clip" or charger. Rifle rounds are placed in it to enable a rifle to be quickly reloaded with 5 rounds. Like that for the German K98.

I agree. The Alloy parts certainly look aircraft related.

    Cheers, Ade.

I thought the round item was half of a spool for telephone wire or something similar?

Interesting bits. Amazing what is still lying around on the surface after all these years. Welcome to the forum.

    Hello Lyburnator,
I'm wondering if the rusted spool could be for carrying film perhaps from an aircraft gun camera or reconaisance, either way great finds and I loved your pictures especially the ones taken at the site. Top marks for a great first post I look forward to any future threads.
    Cheers

Lol, I was going to answer - "Rusted bits of metal !"

Seriously though, the spool is likely for wire cable, as it seems
too large and too thick for any kind of film. The alloy pieces
do look aircraft related as said, and a 'stripper clip'.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

Cheers guys, the spool interests me mainly because of the way it seems to be torn in places like maybe it was damaged by shrapnel or something. Anyway, great stuff and I'm feeling inspired to have another look next time.

Stripper ist not for kar98, but for French MAS 36 7,5mm rifle.
