Love the Astra. Such a cool and futuristic looking gun.

Wow, that's some neat stuff to find!!! The Gew.98 is definately a WWII find, and not WWI- the rear sight has been updated with the Kar 98 K style rear sight, it would most likely be a WWII find with those sights. It would likely be early in WWII. Was the 08/15 Bipod (and yes, that's what it is) found near it? I would be very interested in more pics of it! I have two 08/15's here in the states, and you can actually have the bipod work its way to where it falls off (if you don't watch it) while you're moving with the gun, it's actually easy to do. I'd still look around and see if the gun is somewhere! The stamped pattern Bipod, like you've got, could also be used with the WWI Mauser anti-tank rifle, but the tubular type seem more pictured in that role. I don't think you're looking for a WWI anti tank rifle based on the Gew you found though; the 08/15 soldiered on through WWII, just like that Gew. It's most likely from an 08/15! Very cool finds!
