Awesome finds , cheers Raymond
Thank you,ironcross1
Given the amount of munitions expended in both wars it is not surprising that there is stuff there.......but it is surprising it is still lying on the surface ! I usually have to dig for 10 minutes to get my relics![]()

Top tip - If you get a detection and spend the next 30 minutes digging a 2 foot deep hole and you STILL haven't found the item......move to the side a little bit !!

Hi steve T .During my last visit in Meuse Argonne ,a farmer was in a field with his tracter and hit a shell the farmer was ok but the tracter was damage .I was told this happen at least 5 times a year in that region.
It is sad but true I am afraid.
There are still 4 or 5 deaths a year in France alone from unexploded ordnance.

You are correct, the death are mostly from ww1 munitions.I was told it will take 500 years to get all this shells and other munitions out of the land.100 years now and the land is still covered with shell and Verdun is so bad you have red zones where you can t go in. The Chemin des dames you have woods with barwires for people not to go because it is so dangerous.
The white bottle you see is a Austrian liquor bottle.
The green one a German mustard bottle.
