I envy all of you who are able to walk on these hollowed grounds. If I ever get to visit Europe I'm going to some battlefields. To find even a small caliber casing is amazing, because ever spent round has a story and the only thing you can do is take a guess at what could have happened at the other end of that rifle.

Great finds my friend, I wish more than anything to come with you on a journey like that.

    Hi
I wish I could go there as well. over here in Ireland anything to do with the second world war is pretty scarce. Thanks for showing your pictures and keep us posted.

Are you interested in swapping some spent casings and shrapnel for some of the same from The Battle of Okinawa?

The gates of hell were opened and we accepted the invitation to enter" 26/880 Lance Sgt, Edward Dyke. 26th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers , ( 3rd Tyneside Irish )

    1st July 1916

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
