I have heard that the german army captured many Brenguns at Dunkirk.
...perhaps this is one of them?

I can say with 100% certainty that it is a Bren Mk2, I've got at least 80 in the collection of all variations and nationalities and only the Mk2 looks like that. It could be a 7.92mm Bren Mk1 which uses the Mk2 body as these were dropped to the resistance however many more normal .303 guns were dropped.

It also can't be a Dunkirk capture as the only Brens in existence in 1940 were the Czech .303 Brens and Enfield .303 Double Dovetail guns. The Mk2 came into existence as a result of the requirement for simplified Bren production.

And it started out as such a simple question........

    great detective work everyone
My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them
