Default Our resent trip to Island Saaremaa

A two weeks ago we were on the Saaremaa island. There were great battles djuring the WWII, twice, in 1941, about a 2 weeks and in 1944 about a 2 month.
Actually we were there for the fairy, of course it wasn't a big deal, just for fun, but we founded a time for a digging. Of course we didn't found much stuff just some rusty shit in old trenches. Those german trenches of 1944 every time were under the water but now they are becoming dry and we tried to dig them. The result y-stripes, m-39 grenades, a number of k-98 cartriges, messtin, some russian ammunition. We did not have much time just a pair of hours. Place very interesting, i'd like to come back and dig there more intensive, but the condition of metall is horrible.
Anyway we also enjoied with the visit of some museums there. Many interesting stuff there, parts of planes and tanks, soldiers stuff from WWI and WWII. Especially i liked the repaired with the rubber german flask, motocyckle google maded from the german gas mask and the watering jug maded from the german gas mask tube.

Yes, The Saaremaa island is a really great place for the vacation and for the digging. There is unic situation. Before the 1993, when the Soviet Army lived the Estonia, the island was a prohibited border area. If you want to head it you should to have a special permission. That's why when we first time try to dig there in 2002 there was totally undigged place with the much stuff just on the surface. At present moment the situation is changed of course, but sometime it's possible to find there a good place for the digging.
It will be a good experience for you Paul to go there.

Thank you for the great photos. I was there about 4 years ago at a cottage and I loved the place. There was a forgotten memorial in bushes, about a failed Soviet landing party that was killed before it even got ashore. I kept thinking what could be waiting at the bottom of the sea, while I went swimming there.
