Stalingrad Find

Hello, I thought I'd upload pictures of a Blut und Boden medal/coin I dug up in the Pitomnik area of Stalingrad 4 years ago. It has some corrosion and pitting but then again not too surprising after 60 years in a trench!! If you ever get a chance to go Stalingrad make sure you hire a guide to show you Pitomik as it isn't marked on the modern maps. The amount of equipment and personal items lying around is amazing; ammunition, parts of aircraft, parts of a field hospital and piles of bones!

what was done about the MIA's? assuming that your post is accurate then something would have to be done since you walk on their remain (not literally)

In the steppes outside Stalingrad unfortunately you don't have to dig to come across bones, many are just lying on the surface with no chance of ever identifying the individuals etc , this is the case on many of the heavily fought over Russian front Battlefields.
