    Morning Paul ,

On the first day of digging we met Ivika Maidre from the museum she was leading a group around the Grenadier Hill memorials , when we first saw the group they were standing on the east part of the hill on the higher part where you found the 2 Germans !!!

    Good day Paul.
Yes we saw her in the museum that day. As for the russians soldiers that you and we found, I think, all of them were pushed down to the craters after Germans recaptured the hill. That's why they don't have any personsl weapons.

I think you are right mate , plenty of ammo but no weapons at all.

So hopefully we will identify 1 Russian soldier and 1 Estonian soldier , everyone should be happy with that and Dim will be able to renew the paperwork for next year ???

Here's some pics from summer. At that time we found a russian cable guy on the field strictly opposite first hill, (Kinderheim).
He lied only 30 sm. deep. The head was lost during the agricultural working. He had a knife, wallet with the russians coins and paper money, mirror, hair brash, spoon, little stone for the knife, flask, shovel, pouch with the amunition for the Mosin rifle and a couple of US lendlease plastic buttons. He had a schrapnel on the body which brouken up his leg, and also many others fragmentations on the body. I think he was killed by Artillery barrage during his work, near were found a russian cable and a cable roll. May be when the russians captured first hill the connect with the command was cutted with the schrapnel and cable guy goes to the field to repair the cable and during this mission he was killed.
When we cleaned up his wallet we found a remains of his paper, it was a paper from the field hospital about the wound that he had. But we couldn't to read his name, because small pieces.
Interesting but this soldier had an strange thing with his leg, there was something like thorh on it. Firstly we thought that it's a small schrapnell but it was a bone. Realy unusual thing, something like skelettone patalogy or a consequence of his last wound.
