Battledamaged beautiful finds

Article about: They obviously never knew what hit 'em. But it is sobering to realize that indiviuals died wearing those lids... heads turned to strawberry jam.

    M40 helmet, it have one bullet hole in back and I think it was smashed by some vehicle.

    Wow, I can see why.

    The bits broken off the blade clearly corresponds to the holes ripped in the scabbard.

    Imagine the bayonet on a Wehrmacht soldier, when it got hit - certainly food for thought.

    What a thought provoking relic...well, to me at least.

    A real Battle scarred combat item , from the Narva Front ?
    The gates of hell were opened and we accepted the invitation to enter" 26/880 Lance Sgt, Edward Dyke. 26th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers , ( 3rd Tyneside Irish )
