As for the 400k German soldiers present at the end of the war... the items in question are being found in Karelia, Russia -not Norway.
Ever heard of troop movements? Any given soldier could have been through multiple countries by the time the war ended, which was kind of my point when stating the high number of German soldiers stationed up here in Norway alone... numbers may have been static to some degree but individual actual troop movements were organic and in motion over borders all throughout the war. Something which would of course open up for many kinds of different markings on items found as they would have been manufactured/picked up all over Europe.
You are aware that so called "foreign volunteers" were involved in the fighting on the Eastern Front too, right? What kind of markings do you suppose rings and similar personal belongings of these non-German troops would have had? All German?

Many units who fought in Karelia moved to the Front via Northern Norway , this was also one of the main logistical supply lines , the Gebirgs Armee used the same route to withdraw back to Narvik in 1944 !!
The gates of hell were opened and we accepted the invitation to enter" 26/880 Lance Sgt, Edward Dyke. 26th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers , ( 3rd Tyneside Irish )

    1st July 1916

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

And that goes without mentioning the Norwegian volunteers who have been shown to have been fighting in the areas that have already been shown here as the frontline positions dug by the guys.....Is that a coincidence or has it merely been overlooked by Mr Mil Spec???

When your thread has 996500 viewings and all like your finds, a two-three
in everything doubting "specialists" is a good statistics.

I'm also disappointed with Mil Spec comments. I bought one of these North Karelia SS Nord Division found helmets. Like most things I want proof or almost proof of what I'm getting was legit or not. The decal and helmet are good and opinions of the diggers there have shown no deception.

It's ok to doubt relics found until reasonable evidence and history of good honest diggers work is shown.
