Thank you Maxim. Very impressive sights and finds. Do you ever find anything interesting postwar artifacts ? Murmansk being harbour for submarines etc. One hear stories that people have found nuclear waste on groun and so on.
No,Soviet rary coins 1958 and vikings sword......
No really about nuclear waste....Never seen....All is OK!

in picture no2 2 knifes with an item in the middle /that item looks like a mk1 combination tool from a bren gun???? any ideas cheers ian

Martinc the Germans needed to hold this front or the Russians would have been able to completly outflank them by pushing into Finland and then Norway via an advance above the 66th Paralell.
Murmansk was vital to Russia as it is an ice free port as Maxim has said and therfore the Western allies could supply Russia even in the winter via the Artic convoys,
