From Crete 1977

Article about: Can anyone identify these, I found them while digging on a beach on Crete while I was a little boy in the late seventies, have some more stuff also. lenghth is 14 cm:s and 2,6 cm at the base

    Well they are MG cartridges of some description. They look like .50 cal cartridges but I can't be sure without seeing the headstamps.

    Can you take a photo of the markings of the base of the cartridges please ?

    From those measurements it could be 20mmx139mm Hispano. HS pic would help.

    Looking closely at the links, and assuming the initial measurments are correct, it looks like old Zwerge gets the Cee-Gar!!

    Thankyou for giving me the nod Ned,frightfully nice of you,I would still like to see the HS as the Germans manufactured and used this round as well as a few other countries.

    unusual thing about them.........why are spent rounds still in the disintigrating links ? Or were these non-disintigrating ??

    The picture sure looks like a match!HS text says W S01 20x139 DM 1A1 2 -44-.

    It should read LOS M ,not W SO1 , it is German manufactured.
