    Thanks for an interesting thread.Those barrels have a lot of history in them.Even if those barrels are not Severloh's they are still an interesting find.I am visiting D Day beaches on a tour after Anzac 100 yr commerations at Gallipoli 2015 so will imagine what happened on D Day.

    Pity that, I was hoping (for a while) for some updates..

    It's a great, but quite sad story.

    These barrels should be in a museum.

    Although, I woudn't donate any thing to a museum personally.

    The barrel is from an MG42, the MG34 barrels don't have the square lock.
