    Take a look at these beauties I found I Kurland a few years ago:
    one is a Close Combat Clasp IN GOLD!! Very rare discovery, only 600 were ever rewarded
    the other is a Soviet Courage Badge

    Default These digs are so interesting.

    How interesting to spend a few days digging in places that were active in WW2. Ground dug relics are the real thing, no questioning their authenticity. I'm sure there is a lot more out there.

    Indeed. When i served with the german military we went to the Hürtgen Forest once and i was surprised to learn that the whole Forest is still covered with S-Mines (Bouncing Betty) and several areas are shut off so people don't go wander there. Apparently a later version of the S-Mine was made of glass and can't be easily detected with a metal detector, which i assume explains why this minefield is still active.
    I imagine many american and german soldiers, ordnance, weaponry etc. are still there but nobody goes digging there because of all the S-Mines.
