Get yourself a Bee-keeper hat Inka. They are not so expencive, and you will have no more big problems with these flies and mosquitos anymore.

I believe i got my hat from "honningsentralen" or something like that. Do a serach online for a supplier.

We have "tropical Strength " repeleent sprays ? Surely similar sprays are available in your area ~

In Australia ~ Ours are not so pleasant but the Mozzies don't like them either ~ LOL

If they are penetrating your clothes that is a worry ~ But more spray~

But worse still here in tropical Queensland we still have Dengue fever ~ so repellent is an essential part of the MD fossicking kit ~

In Northern Australia we have "The Stinging tree" which is an extremely hazardous and insidious plant that once stung the effect does NOT STOP ~ and often requires hospital ~ I keep a box Ladies leg waxing strips handy as that is one of the few effective treatments for the Stinging tree !

    Absolute Agony ~

Giant Stinging tree, Dendrocnide excelsa photo - Alexander Dudley photos at pbase.com

I was told the story of a US Marine tough bloke, stationed in QLD during WWII ~ that scoffed at the Stinging tree ~ so he stripped off his short and ran through one ~

ONE one is that tough ~ NO ONE~

Ohgod yes,Im very pleased we dont have the same fauna as Down there!! I would need to burn each area clean before digging if there was killer trees , snakes, bugs on the size of shoes, and, worse, the proof there is no god,the spiders..man you really should start filming Your trips, would be interesting to see

    LOL

I have only been at this past time for 18 months and I have never seen a snake ~ although when in the Bush I actually use my pick to bang on tree trucks and rocks. Most snakes are very timid and wil slither away if there is a racket ~

The only thing I have seen was a "Goanna" ~ They grow quite large but nothing quite like the Indonesian Komodo but they are cousins ~ The Goannas are also vey timid as a rule

Our Cairns ( coastal) team member wants to fossick several seaside / beach / salt water river areas as there are King LOW tides coming up ~ NOW that concerns me as that is Salt Water Crocodile country ~ But he says ~ "Oh don;t sweat it about them mate!"

Only this week a 62 man was plucked out of a boat by a large Saltie when he was tipping a bucket of water over the side of his boat~

    THAT'S SCARY !~
