German camp , but there was a POW camp a few hundred meters away.

So would say the Russian POWs were given wooden shoes to wear, god that must have hurt and doing hard labour in those things. poor buggers

I think from my knowledge that the shoes would have been a secondary issue ~ after all just getting a decent regular meal or sustenance would have been foremost ~Its impossible to imagine the suck that must have been..
I watched the History channel series on the Wehrmacht and seems that they had NO concept of the absolutely overwhelming numbers of Russian POWs they would have to deal with!
Thus the German Army had totally inadequate logistical plan or capability to deal with the sheer numbers ~
Despite anyone's concept or opinion of the Third Reich. I believe it would have been a major problem, regardless of whose army was rising to such an immense challenge in 1942 and beyond!
Another thing I have been wondering about AT , if the nazis had won the war , what would happen to the population living close to camps and witnessed all the horrors done to the POWs , would they be let to survive to tell about it?
