Only had the Noktar out a few times but seems a huge improvement with sensitivity adjustment and even volume control~ So far so good ~ but as said ~

I have been 'grounded for some three weeks now but should be back on the program very soon ~ especially with the new transport !!

If you ever decide to over haul the Garrett ~ strongly suggest research first and watch some of the UTube videos first ~

Gawd it was a bit chilly today, but I went searching on some British positions anyway. It was not many signals here, but the fighting had only lasted a few days before they had to retreat.

I think its a piece of an ashtray. I found it in the modern rubbish pit, so I dont think it is war time.

    The cigarette package is period??

My boss of the 1970s smoked these durries ~ He claimed he smoked them 'for ever '~

Previous to migrating to Australia with family , he was ex UK service man ~

"Jerry" served on the HMS Glowworm ~ which was sunk by the Hipper ~

He claimed the German's were never the noble & honorable Merchant men , and simply sailed away leaving h e and the survivors wallowing in the freezing North Atlantic !

Then he served on the HMS Cleopatra.... There in Jerry, claimed the most horrific experience of being under continued attack by Stukas.

As many know the Cleopatra was also sunk by air attacks in the Mediterranean !

After that he transferred to the Army and became a radio operator and went ashore at Normandy in 1944!

And while we are on chain smoking ~

Another bloke I worked in with 1970s, claimed he never smoked prior to serving on the HMAS Australia which was part of the US Task Force /fleet that came under the relentless air attacks by the Japanese aircraft as they closed in on Japan and Okinawa !

He had chain smoked ever since !!

Hmm War time Smoking stories, eh ? Inka

Last evening I mixed up a bucket with oxalic acid and threw in a few finds I brought home from Latvia. These were all found on a ww1 german bunker system.

Inka, in regard to cleaning of zinc items, have you tried EDTA disodium salt? I am wondering if it is effective as I have tried Oxalic acid on zinc and it didn't seem to do much.
