    Cant wait for tomorrow
    LOL

    Now that's ironic, Inka ~

I am in the same boat ~ I have Thursday off and plan on heading out early tomorrow ~

I have had some trials and tribulations with the new transport acquisition ( As it has been standing in ol' mate's backyard for almost 20 years !!)

But if one embarks on resurrecting old iron ~ got to expect some issues ~ so take three and hope to make a solo hunt !!! (Well it was a bargain @ "Mate's rates" as we say in 'Aussie' ~ and I expected to have some issues !!)

    Gung Ho !!! FIx Bayonets ! ~

I was out the doors early today, hoping to have as much luck as yesterday. Little did I know there would be exhausting work for little payoff ahead. I began digging a dumping pit but it was full of long metal rods, metal pipes and corrugated sheet metal. This makes this by far the most difficult dig this season. I managed to clear a small part of it before dark but there is tons of work ahead..and the weather report promises a quick end to my detecting season now

Cleaning-Day today. The world outside is frosted and cold this morning, so I think I prefer a warm bucket of oxalic acid and relics. I think it was time for a day of rest anyway, my body is screaming for it,, but hey, prehaps it is mild and weather for digging again tomorrow Here is the first batch out of the bucket. Mp40 loader, Mg34 winter trigger, and unknow part, k98 bolt and muzzle cap and three small tin boxes

    Inka,
As mentioned above, the unknown part is the rear end cap for the MG mounting cradle from a Lafette 34 MG tripod. There will be some large pronounced date and serial numbers on the flat mid section, just behind the turned up part. Since I think I can see brown paint on it I would say the date will be between 1939 and 1940.

Could the unknown part be part of a lafette?

You must dread the thought of Winter closing you out for the "season' !?

But I see ~ what we call "tent Rings" ~ They drive me INSANE~ They give a fantastic signal and can be hardly ignored ~

I generally collect them as scra brass these days ~
