    North Wales Anti-Tank Beach Defences

Over the weekend I decided to take a trip over to the North West Wales Coast. Drove south down to Harlech Castle then onto Barmouth and then to Fairbourne where there is an impressive 2 mile stretch of " Dragon's Teeth " Anti-Tank beach defences. Some have been quite disturbed by the recent harsh weather which battered the Welsh coast a couple of years ago, and also some are slowly being covered by the encroaching sands and pebble beach. Quite an impressive sight I feel, built 75 years ago in 1940 when our green and pleasant lands were under imminent danger of invasion. Looking out to sea I tried to get a sense of what it must have felt like, the uncertainty of wondering if the enemy would arrive.....
