    Default Finds from German/US Base

    Hello friends
These are the rewards from 3-4 hunts at a US base here in Germany. The base is located in the Mannheim area and once was part of a defensive FLAK (anti-aircraft artillery) search light network. This bases has been scheduled for closure later this year, so I have been busy trying to get as many hunts there as possible.

All finds using White's XLT with stock coil
Some of the great items found:
-German dog tags (ID tags), these were found in a small area (5x5ft) and were most likely just discarded, so they were not with bodies--all the tags indicate they were soldiers assigned to FLAK units
-Couple different German pins, including a rare viking shield for Swedish Days (sports event)...I think???
    - Some mercury dimes
-Ammo, ammo and more ammo, including a rare 30 carbine drill round
    -Many US buttons and insignia
    - part of a US revolver
-Random coins, broken switch blade knife and old peanut butter C-rations
Can anyone ID Baltic pin in the last photo??

    Enjoy

Superb finds. I love the 30cal drill round. Very rare !

Interesting the amount of coins you are finding in amongst all the cartridges and dog tags. Looks like they were playing cards an awful lot, and eating peanut butter

381: I also find those coiled wires often, its might be for hanging barber wire or some thing for tent lines...I'm still not sure

Steve: the 30 carbine round in rare, body is made from steel and has no provisions (flash holes) for primer usage..its eaither a drill round or a functions check round

Tent rope tensioner, used with most patterns of WWII US tents.

    All the best,

Well done with the finds. How many coins did you find in total? I like all the different badges you found

Over 50 coins, including silver US dimes, british and dutch coins. I still have many hunts planned there before the post closes.
