This is the bomb kiste for an Abwurfbehälter 500.
With bits of cluster bombs being evident following the I.D i found this pic and noted the lid by the nose , with the khaki colour on my lid i wondered if it was this. Have no dimensions for the pic but sounds like it may not be this. I was just a bit puzzled why so manycleaning tube lids would be discarded if they were panther tube lids.
Think you may be correct in your hunch about the cap actually being from the nose of an AB500 Mark.
It was you pointing me in the direction of the incendiaries that made me stumble on the pic, thanks again fo narrowing my search!
