Hi GiGi, welcome to the forum. Looks like you found some Steyr Mannlicher M95, 8 X 56R ammo en bloch clips. Were you using a metal detector or how did you come about these? It would be fun to search for this stuff.

Hi zwerge, I was going by the funky clip because it has that opening on the side, like the M95. I'm embarassed to say that my knowledge of WWI history is not good. I googled the Asiago Front, and found that it was a battle between Austria and Italy, so I think it's most likely 8 X 56 ammo in M95 clips.

I definitively stand corrected. I have never seen that 303 clip. I'll be darned. Once again, my lack of knowledge about WWI biased my opinion. I thought it was just Austrians fighting Italians on the Asiago front. Didn't know the fine Brits were fighting there too. Thanks for the photos Zwerge, helped me wrap my little brain around the right answer Thanks again for posting Gigi, I sure wish I had a place like that to go MDing.

    Take care,

    303's for sure.

The clips are in damn good condition. The ones I find are usually so rusted that they fall apart as soon as you look at them.
