Lead Iron Cross found in a field

Article about: Hi guys, 3 weeks ago went on a club dig and one of the guys found a Iron Cross, the strange thing is its an exact copy but made from lead. Im really intrigued by this find. Who made it, why?

    3 weeks ago went on a club dig and one of the guys found a Iron Cross, the strange thing is its an exact copy but made from lead. Im really intrigued by this find.

    Who made it, why?, How old is it?

    What are your thoughts

    POW made item is a possibility. In what context were they found?

    Im inclined to believe its a bikers piece, how deep are we talking when found and what other items were found at that depth

    Thanks for your reply guys,

    There are no POW camps near by, but not to say it was lost by a German working the land, It was found on ploughed and pasture land .

    The finds ranged from Roman to post war.

    Wow thats a genuine third reich fishing weight, probably used in the field for casting practice. sorry

    Appears a lot thicker and a little smaller than a regular WWI EK.
    I tend to think it is more of a biker-type thing or an
    out-and-out fake.

    I recall there were a lot of lead badges and medals around
    in the mid to late 70's.........
