You got a good site there my friend.....keep it to yourself and get it fully searched !

Pity you put your spade through the .50. Happens to us all mate. I always find the edge of a good detection (50's usually give a nice solid high tone for a good 8inches) and dig towards it. Saves chopping the buggers up

Lots more Coffmans....Interesting. You must be on an RAF base

You sure of the markings on that funny piece ? Looks like an 8 to me and not a B.

    Interestingly, Tri-Sure still exist !!!

    Tri-Sure Closures Worldwide

Send them a pic of your cap....maybe they can ID it for you

Lastly, your bottom cap looks like the cap off a British Flimsy. Does it say 'Shell' or anything on the top ?

    Cheers

Hi Steve, looking at the strange item now i think it says FB8 1543

Im guessing those caps would have been off fuel tanks intresting that they are still making them. the smaller cap is the same as the big one. i know the other caps you are talking about ive found tones of them all over the place. ive even found one with a hole in it which would have been used for the Vickers Machine gun.

    ALl the best
