The gates of hell were opened and we accepted the invitation to enter" 26/880 Lance Sgt, Edward Dyke. 26th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers , ( 3rd Tyneside Irish )
1st July 1916
Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
House Carles at the Battle of Hastings
We must have met in the pass.
Are you sure it is Saumur I was told it was a Museum in Germany.
My French family is from Saumur.
Very nice Museum but I like the old location better.
But where it is now is only 5 minutes walk from my Grandparents.
My Uncle and my cousin did buy stuff there longtime ago.
Yes It is in Saumur, because there was the problem of some munitions staying in the weapons and the army took the Panzers.
Near Le Mans, there was a depot with tanks and guns, all is in Saumur also.
Le Mans in the 70's...
Le Mans, last picture.
Michel did you go to the one next to Le mans?
I did not know about that one.
No, it's a friend who gave me the pictures. Le mans is not in Normandy, so I never go in this time. It was out the town, "sortie"
Is this the same tank?
I would have like to know that I could have gone there .
I have been to LeMans so many times.
Great stuff Michel.
It was in the 70's, this tank is now restored, perhaps it 'll run in July(Not in Normandy..)
But I see some tanks are mising in the museum, in the reserve?
