MY first post, it won't be my last!

Article about: Thanks Jerry I got a little excited when I thought it was '50' as this would have been something to do with the gunnery/turret system

VERY nice find Jerry, I haven't seen one of those for a long time.
It's the collar where the B-17 tail guns went through the canvas cover (pre-Cheyenne tail).

    All the best,
    PB

    Yes please Steve,

The maker of the mounting ring was Alcoa, it also shows Boeing.

Alcoa are still working with Boeing to this date.

Nice thread and finds. The thread went a bit weird in the middle but turned out OK

Anyone know of any good sites in the north? I've been toying with the idea of MD'ing for a few years.

Reminds me of the AM stamped metal box I found. 'Box, storage of tools, for use of'

    Nice find

    Hi Jerry

Your mystery brass item is a sensor from a capillary guage - most likely oil or fuel pressure. It's British. You have found a number of bits with a x 29 prefix - these are mostly likely from a Short Stirling bomber. If you found them together you may have found a crash site or a scrapping area. Did your airfield operatre Stirlings? If you are in the lincs area I expect it did...

Great finds - keep them coming please

The site was used for scrapping Stirlings after WWII.

    All the best,
    PB
