Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
House Carles at the Battle of Hastings
Fantastic finds! Keep posting the pictures, please. More history recovered and more of the story, just what we like to see. Well done!
Martyn.
Hi nemps,
i think i have found out what the MG drum is from, a French Chatellarault M31 MG used in french light tanks, whose turrets were dug in on the Maginot line to act as bunkers, hope this helps
regards Mad.ideas
The last pic of the drum like thing appears to be a steering clutch for some kind of tracked vehicle.
have just double check defiantly an MG drum just missing the frount plate

The top left photo appears to be a mortar tube.
I spend today also in woods, weather was very hot, and iron was very heavy:
Your right some heavy pieces there

Looks like you found a repair facility site.
After war many damaged vehicles were left behind in woods. Local residents did not find use for large parts. But they could use bolts and nuts. So they dismantled those vehicles and left many parts behind. After that someday the chassis entered in scrap metal, but they do not bother to collect small parts so those parts preserved to today.
