New Range discovered

Hi all,

Only did a half day at work today because i was bored , so this afternoon i went to search a new site and find out how old it dates back.

Spent a couple of hours wandering around.The whole mound is full of singals 'beep,beep,beep'
A nice mix of ages



I also dug this big iron target, which i think could be some sort of target as it was on the side on the mound, it seemed to have a few dents in it


To the side of the mound there is this


inside someone had carved something into the brick 'A D with a broad arrow'


All in all a fun couple of hours out, this was a hell of a lot better than what i was doiing at work

I would think this is a butt hide but it looks only big enough for one person which is strange, unless youve found a bunker thats been bricked up

Hi Cave, I went inside and it did not look as it had been bricked up so i think your right about it being a hide

Well the only way to tell would be to see how far the bricks/concrete extend around the mound and how big it is ,which will take a fair time to dig out

Great finds, is 'The Pile' what you found? If so it really is a rammed site and well done for tracking it down. It looks well worth more visits perhaps even trying to find where the troops fired from. They're bound to have dropped stuff.

Well Done WH great find and a nicely put together thread,feels like iv been there too i can see me getting very bored tomorrow at work too
