I did not expect to find anything in Normandy except museums and monuments, especially that purpose of my holiday visit was sightseeing with my family and no metal detector was taken.
But I dreamed to find just a damaged Garand ammo shell case… or something like this.
And, walking alongside the “bocage” I spotted this.
Marsden matting, just 2 km far from the Omaha Beach. Probably, many of the vehicles of the 29th and 1st Infantry Division passed over this as the place was reached by the 5th Rangers Battalion on June 6, 1944, at 11.20 am. My dreams came true…
