    Default Odd relic for ID

    Hi all

I have been sent this by a metal detectorist who did not want it. It is the size of a medium pocket watch but does not appear to have ever been one.

The reason for posting here is simple. I was sent it because the finder believed it is military in origin because of the 'US' stamped on it.

I have to say, it is the same style and font as military items stamped 'US' and I to believe it may be military in origin.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Steve T

Can you describe what's inside it? That neon green color strikes me as odd...

It's some sort of card with odd markings on it. Can't make anything out unfortunately. Quite thick card though.

There is a 'ring' inside the object that appears to have originally held the card in place. However, it has, over the years, come away from this portion just leaving the disc you can see. You can make out the 'ring' as it is that which is forming the gap between it and the rim of the object.

It's a WW2 U.S. Army compass case, without the compass! What the paper is is anyone's guess.....
