    Got out for about an hour

    1: .50cal R A 42
    2: Silver sixpence 1944 in same hole as .50cal. Soilders pocket spill i expect

    Also found £1 and 5 .303's but i seem to have lost them lol

    That .50 cal is in good condition , and a nice sixpence.
    Looks like you had a better day than me, spent my day visiting 2 shops, both of which were full of laughable fakes being sold as th real deal ! I shall never be buying from them.
    Anyway, well done with the finds.

    at least you have shops, here its rare to find anything worth of buying.

    Nice finds WH.

    Very nice date on your sixpence and a nice 50cal. These do tend to hold up better than 303's in the ground. It looks in nice condition.

    Very interesting to see you've found some more Coffmans. The research I did into them pointed to them being used in Griffins and late variant Merlins. I would be interested to learn what you dig up on them.

    PS The airbase I found mine at was one of the few to house Whirlwinds. These too (I believe) used Coffman cartridges as starters.

    Hi Steve, i was searching around the same area as yesturday. I will be going back on Thursday as tomorrow is pub night
