RAF base dump - RRPG dig - Feb 2013
Hi all
Well, been back from the dig for a couple of hours and have finally managed to get the mud out of my ears
The RRPG had its first dig of the year at a new site, one I've just recently gained permission for. It is an old RAF base dump, and one that turned up some truly remarkable finds.
I shall start this thread with a little taster of what was dug, along with a pic of all who attended. Once stuff gets photographed and/or cleaned, the people who attended the dig will post what they found, so please keep checking this thread.
First up, a group shot
From left to right.....Steve Newman, Salzburg, mossie, Sandy (the landowner), Jerry Wright, Davjb, LUCKYSTRIKE, 381st, gremlin, harry211, Jayh (right at back hiding), JD666, Richard_j, Whitehunter, Paul B.
Please note that Davjb is not in a hole, nor wrapped around a large bramble bush........but he is in the video I have...
One find I needed to photo quickly before the paper fell to bits was this little find.
And here is everything I managed to find and take home. Pictures of cleaned stuff to follow ASAP !
Cheers
Steve T

Re: RAF base dump - RRPG dig - Feb 2013
Would someone be kind enough to post a couple of photos of my "Big Find" please?
I've got the book out and am struggling to identify the exact type from memory (pretty sure it's a Type D). Ta.

Ta Salzburg,
The two examples you posted photos of are Type C trolleys of early and late marks.

Looking forward to pictures of the other finds. Bomb trolly looks great, is it restorable?
Hangarman

Probably not hangarman. The cross beams were more or less rotted through. Main spars were ok but the axles were completely banjaxed by the looks.
