Recent Hurtgen Find Help Needed
Hi all I need some help with this item which I recently found in the Hurtgen in a fox hole. When I found it it was covered in dirt and resembled a large coin. After cleaning it it reveled the Kaisers head profile and some inscriptions. It was probably produced on mass and presented as a special edition. Its made of bronze I believe.
I presumbe it belonged to a soldier and had been passed down from his father? Maybe it was carried as a good luck charm or had been presented to the soldlier
Its not normally the type of material that I collect as I am mostly interested in ordnance and personal equipment but it is an interesting find and quite unusual. Any information on this medal would be gratefully received. The attachment are not working so visit my album to see the phots thanks!

Hi john,
What you found is a commemorative medal for Wilhelm 1, 1797- 1897.
It would have had a golden ribbon on it but your,s has lost the ring.
They are made of bronze, It,s to commemorate his 100 year birthday?
koenig von preussen, king of prussia. i have one here in my collection.
