The smaller one could be a matchbook holder.
OK guys ,I am sure someone can tell me what this is.
Paul is correct, it's a matchbook case, note the striking plate at the bottom. The other one is for soft pack cigarettes, so they don't get crushed in your pocket. This has match striking grooves on either side that also help to keep the packet inside secured. I wonder if the LMS logo stands for London, Midland, Scottish Railways? Then again, it could be read as MLS!!

Chris, when you say C47 crash in Normandy, it wouldn't be one of THE C47s that brought in the 101st boys, would it?????? or just a transport
