In John's picture ? If so, it is a British 2 inch mortar cap, with 'Remove before firing' written around the top.

    Ok. Got stuff cleaned

Items recovered from the WW2 USAAF dump first of all.

A nice padlock, a razor handle and a bulb. From an aircraft maybe ?
Pygmy lamp bulb, used in MkII Airfield Lighting and other airfield installations.

An engine valve. I was hoping for some markings and found some ! I got quite excited to begin with, imagining the words 'Rolls Royce' or 'Merlin' coming through the grime. But sadly it was not to be..........

    ..........bloody FORD !
Not a jeep valve as I first thought to check, but it's a close match to a Ford/Fordson flathead V8 valve of the period.

    All the best,
    PB
