    At first glance, the doll looked as though it was a wine bottle stopper. After second glance, I believe the bottom of the piece was the attachment for a moving mechanism for the doll's bottom half.

    The "half doll" is a german production of first year of 1900. It can be used in many ways. Here it is used as a lamp. Someone suggested me it is a lamp for bordello rooms......

    BOEHRINGER INGELHEIM is a pharmaceutical company so the bottle you have would have contained medication of some description.

    I don't know if they 'existed' in the 1940's so you need to do some research first to be sure.

    Thanks. I learn from other forums that Boeringher is a ancient pharm industry and that the bottle contains sympamina.
